We have just moved to TN from CA and got the tip from locals in Crossville to try Mauricio\'s in Cookeville. We were blown away by the food, atmosphare, the yet to be named house ghost {I personally like Caspar}and the great service from Hillary. We felt very spoiled and will make a stop there when we come to Cookeville. Thank you Mike for the tour of the whole restaurant, just amazing what kind of quality food thad little kitchen can produce.

I recently came to Cookeville for the first time with my friend Randy. We came up to go fishing but we'll definitely return to eat at Mauricio's. It was definitely the highlight of our trip and most certainly one of the most wonderful meals I've ever had. Best creme brulee (and I've had a lot of creme brulee) hands down! Fine dining at its best! My husband took me there for my birthday, and for two hours we felt like we where in Italy... our server was amazing, and the food was fantastic.
They even brought out a delicious slice of cake for me... our experience was just incredible, I just can't believe we've missed out on it for so long.. definetly going back =)

Wow! Whata professional staff. My daughter graduated from TTU on May 8th.We reserved a room for her lucheon. Monty and staff were so accomodating, assisting with florist and bakery deliveries and set up. The resturant was amazing as was the food and service. What a perfect ending to a special day! My daughter said it was everything she could have asked for. Thanks again for all you did.

We ate at Mauricio's on our way home from vacation. It was very hard to find...even our GPS was confused. So, we called for directions and am very glad we did. Every detail has been thought through at Mauricio's. The ambience is cozy, the food is awesome, the service is outstanding. If this restaurant was in St. Louis, I would absolutely become a "regular." I wish I had taken our camera to take pix. When we were leaving, the outside dining area was so inviting and beautiful. LOVED this place!

Fantastic restaurant. We had a 50th anniversary party for my future in-laws at Mauricio's this weekend. We were arranging the details for this surprise party from NJ and everything was perfect. We couldn't have picked a betterp place we had 20 people and our own separate room. We didn't realize that we chose the date of the prom but it seemed like we were the only ones in the restaurant despite how busy they were. The staff was excellent - our drinks never were empty it was like could read our minds. The food was excellent. We started with a variety of appetizers (calamari, fried ravioli and bruschetta) - our guests raved about them all. We followed with their unlimited salad and bread (I really appreciated the nice touch of salad was served on chilled plates). We had a bunch of different entrees....the eggplant was very tasty although breading is a bit heavier than we find in NJ (I'm told this is a Tenn. thing ;-) We brought our own cake so can't offer opinions on dessert but I'm sure they would be mouthwatering! Mauricio himself was checking in on us to make sure all was going well which provided a great personal touch. Great experience - I highly recommend this restaurant.

We were delighted to be served a very well made house salad on ice cold plates with quality ingredients. The food was hot and very good. The wine was served at just the right temperature. I have NEVER had bad food or service. I have spent many special occasions including anniversarys and birtdays at Mauricio's and they have made each and every one special.
When spending time at Mauricio's, you never feel rushed or unwelcome. I have gone in dressed in jeans and a t-shirt or in a sequined gown and been treated the same. This place is one of a kind.
If you have never been, please try it. You will never have another experience like it. I promise!!!
Just a hint, order the Tiramisu with extra strawberries. A small bite of a strawberry with each bite of the Tiramisu is like heaven!!! (Sorry, staff of Mauricio's, you might have to order extra strawberries! LOL)

We travel the country and have eaten in some of the best restaurants from New York and DC to San Francisco and LA. A client of mine, who lives in Atlanta, referred me to Mauricio's. The service by Jenny was professional and personal. Even though she was very busy, like a beautiful dance she never missed a beat from the pouring of our wine to serving the next course. The food was so delicious I didn't want it to end. The ambiance of the individual rooms with the fireplaces in Mauricio's restaurant made the experience imitate and cozy. Thank you for making our Valentine dinner one to remember for years to come.

What a great find! We drove from north of Nashville and the other half of a party drove from Sevierville. We all agreed it was worth the drive. The food was out of this world. Everyone ordered something different so we could all sample. No one was disappointed. Actually we were pretty blown away. This wonderful place that is hidden away in Cookeville. The atmosphere is relaxing yet fun. Our waitress took everything in stride. (we have a bunch of pickers in our family) She was great. You won't get food like this in Nashville. Take a trip. Just an hour and a half and be treated. Will be going back in March for my daughter's birthday.

Cookeville is a nice weekend getaway from Ft Thomas,Ky. Mauricio's is our dining highlight. It's so relaxing after photographing the waterfalls to have a glass of Fat Bastard and a delightful appetizer. The owners are like old friends every time we visit. What is not to enjoy.

While visiting family in Cookeville, it was suggested that we visit Mauricio's. After an outstanding meal, wonderful service and an overall fantastic experience, I must say that our meal at Mauricio's had to have been one of the finest dining experiences I've ever had. The only suggestion I would have for the restaurant's management would be for them to open a restaurant in Dallas.

After an outstanding meal, wonderful service and an overall fantastic experience, I must say that our meal at Mauricio's had to have been one of the finest dining experiences I've ever had. We're visiting from Philadelphia and I thought dinner was very delicious AND affordable, especially when you consider the quality. The stuffed mushrooms were my favorite appetizer and I loved the prosciutto and peas & pasta in the parmesan sauce'man that was good! As a fan of fine dining, I was not disappointed at Mauricio's. The ambiance is just as delightful and the menu. Very, very nice.

We relocated to Cookeville (from Northeast Ohio)3 months ago. Our family was concerned about the lack of good, authentic, Italian food here. Last night we tried Mauricio's for our anniversary and we can honestly say that our worries are over! The food is amazing and the service is as well. Mike and Monty (owners) really make you feel at home and enjoy getting to know their customers! We both had the Fried Olives, Lobster Bisque, bread w/oil, and I had Pasta Primavera and Tony had 4 Cheese Ravioli. Every single thing we ate was delish!! I also enjoyed a glass of Reisling with my meal, which I look forward to enjoying with many more of our meals at Mauricio's. We know our daughters (who have high expectations as well - because they are so spoiled lol) are really going to enjoy everything about Mauricio's. And Tony is already planning on taking his fellow employees and business partners there for lunch and dinner meetings. It may be off the beaten path, but Mauricio's is by far the place to go if your looking for true, authentic Italian dining w/great service and atmosphere.

We know our daughters (who have high expectations as well - because they are so spoiled lol) are really going to enjoy everything about Mauricio's. And Tony is already planning on taking his fellow employees and business partners there for lunch and dinner meetings. The restaurant is a converted old house which gives you the feeling that you are eating with friends or family. The food is excellent. We moved here from New York City where some of the best restaurants in the country are. We found the food at Mauricio's to be right up there with the best of them. The owner Mike came and sat with us after we ate to ensure that everything was to our satisfaction. We talked for over 5 minutes about many different things like we were friends for a long time. You don't get that feeling eating in a chain restaurant. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a very pleasurable dinning experience.

My best friend and I ate at Mauricio's Wednesday night, not the first time but the first time for me to have the lobster bisque. She talked me into trying it and by far it is the best I have ever tasted. We had never tried the fried olives but will certainly order them again on our next trip. After seeing the Tennessee Crossroad's piece on Mauricio's, we knew we needed to check it out. To celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary, we headed to Cookeville and Mauricio's. The menu offered a taste tempting variety, with our final choices being the tilapia special and the veal marsala- both were superb and the presentation beautiful. I visited Mauricio's last night which was the 15th, it was my first time and I was taken there for my birthday dinner. Our server was Donna and she was excellent. She helped to make the dinning experience that much better. Everyone was so nice and the music was great, the whole atmosphere was great. The food was absolutely superb and the waitress Jessica was charming and helpful. We were thrilled to be the first patrons to dine on the new patio. The atmosphere was inviting, the staff well-informed and service oriented, and the food was absolutely divine. The four of us who dined all travel in our professional careers and have the pleasure of enjoying many fine dining establishments. Without a doubt, Mauricio's has joined the top of our list of favorites. On our way home, we were already making plans that would bring us back to Cookeville to again savor the excellent food. What a find!!

The person who took our reservations by phone was very friendly and made sure to get us the table we requested (one by a roaring fire...very romantic by the way). The food was phenomenal and we had to take some home because it was THAT fulfilling. The bread appetizer was to die for. Our server, Elizabeth, was top notch and we couldn't ask for better. Mauricio's is, without a doubt, one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the service is always impeccable, and the food - exemplary. Rocky and I knew Mauricio's would be a great place when we heard Dean Martin singing "Ain't That A Kick In The Head". We have this CD. Amber was very attentive and brought us two loaves of your wonderful home baked bread. The salad was very fresh with a light dressing. I had the Veal Marsala and Rocky enjoyed the Chicken Parmesan. We are on our way back to Dallas from Roanoke, VA. and Cookeville is a good stopping place in TN. We had driven from Asheville, NC and Pigeon Forge, TN in the rain dealing with the lack of highway signs on the back roads due to the leaf peepers clogging up the main road back to I40 and by the time we arrived in Cookeville we were pooped. We asked Gretchen at the front desk of our hotel for a locally owned restaurant and she recommended Mauricio's. She even printed Map Quest directions for us. It was an easy drive up Jefferson to the restaurant. I had called ahead just in case we needed a reservation and Mike recognized my accent when we walked in the door. Room B was lovely. The pumpkin cheesecake will be saved for later since we are so full from salad, bread and dinner. Thanks for a perfect ending to a long day of driving. Wish you were closer to Dallas, TX. We will definitely plan another trip and come through Cookeville to visit you again.

Excellent service, fabulous food, the Lobster Bisque was "to die for" and not just because my cholesterol went up with the cream in it, a respectable wine list (remember I am from California), wonderful ambiance and great owners, both of whom stopped by to see how we were doing. I was invited to look around after dinner, including the kitchen which was clean and sparkling and well attended by a friendly and clearly great chef.

I remember reading a review in a Nashville paper just after you opened and decided to check it out for myself. Even though I didn't have reservations, I was promptly seated. The service was just right and the food was excellent. I will definitely come back next time I'm in town (I'm a tech alumnus from the 70's, so hopefully I'll be back soon).

Upon finding the website I made a few calls to friends and soon found out that Mauricio's had everything that I was looking for. I am so happy to know that Cookeville now has a restaurant like this! If you enjoy excellent Fine Italian Food, prepared to perfection, with flair and presentation, and dining in an atmosphere of warmth, ambience, and romantic decor, then Mauricio's is the restaurant for you! The warmth of the owners and staff, is beyond compare.
In my opinion, Mauricio's is the best dining establishment in the Upper Cumberland area, and compares equally with any Italian restaurant in major cities. With five being the highest, I give it 5+++ stars!

In my opinion, Mauricio's is the best dining establishment in the Upper Cumberland area, and compares equally with any Italian restaurant in major cities. With five being the highest, I give it 5+++ stars!

I have been there many of times over the past two years. Everytime i go in I always get a friendly greeting from the staff. The food is heavenly and the bread will melt in your mouth. Mike and Monte have done a superb job at restoring the old house into the beautiful resteraunt that it is today.
